Pan-Orthodox Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers

The Sunday of Orthodoxy, the first Sunday of Great Lent, is celebrated at Milwaukee’s Orthodox churches on a rotating basis. This year our St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral will host this service.

Music: Local bands (The Now, Georgia Overdrive, Cherry Pie, and the Sociables) and Serbian Music (Mica Radovanovic, Neda Gorancic, Nikola Prvulovic, Vlatko Miskovic, Dajana Draca, C4 Band, Dragan Negovanovic, Zika Antic, Mirjana Negovanovic, Aleksandar Djordjevic) and Tambura Music (Prazna Flaša).

Activities: Raffle, Church Tours, Cultural Exhibits, Crafts, Ethnic Dancing & Program, Rides (Kids’ Wristbands available 12pm-3pm on Saturday and Sunday)

Food: BBQ Lamb, Pork & Chicken, Lamb Shanks, Sarma, Cevaps, Burek, Serbian Sausage, Famous Serbian Sweet Shop!

The Stevan Sijacki Choir is pleased to welcome Chant Claire Chamber Choir to Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. Come hear both groups perform carols and other sacred pieces of the Christmas season and beyond, all in the beautiful Saint Sava Cathedral.

The S.S.S. Stevan Sijacki Choir of Milwaukee presents the 74th Annual Serbian Singing Federation Choral Festival this Memorial Day weekend.

This year’s theme is “Happy Days” after the famed television show “Happy Days” which is set in Milwaukee.

Friday doors and kitchen will open at 5pm at St. Sava Cultural Center. On the menu will be Serbian style fish, Wisconsin brats, hot dogs, and Wisconsin desserts. Wear your 1950’s apparel – poodle skirts, leather jackets, etc.

OCWA Official Event – 6th Annual Educational Conference

The Orthodox Christian Women’s Association is presenting their 6th Annual Educational Conference.

Rev. Father Angelo Artemas, Pastor of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be the kenote speaker. His presentation is entitled “Spiritual Inclinations from Infancy through Adolescence”.

Breakout sessions will be presented by Presbytera Mary P. Hallick, ED.D. and Hollie M. Benton, M.A. Presbytera Hallick’s presentation is entitled “Children: Martyrs through the Centuries” and Ms. Benton’s presentation is entitled “The Exodus: What Does God Do With Young Adults Who Wander in the Wilderness?”.

A continental breakfast will precede the presentations, and a luncheon will follow. The luncheon program includes a round of “Stump Your Parish Priest” as well as an award presentation.

A variety of books and icons will be available from the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral Bookstore along with exhibits on Orthodox Christian topics. In addition, OCWA items such as cookbooks, tote bags, and Presbytera Hallick’s books will also be on sale.

Registration is $40 for OCWA members; $45 for non-members; $25 for students (18-25 years old), and $25 for lunch only. Checks should be made payable to OCWA. Registration deadline is Friday, October 10. Registration can be made by mailing in the attached form.
