In the Image and Likeness of God – The Human Person in Orthodox Spirituality
Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia is a renowned Orthodox Christian theologian, scholar, writer, and speaker. He is the author of several works on the Orthodox Christian tradition, including the hugely successful The Orthodox Church. With Philip Sherrard and Gerald Palmer, he translated the classic work of Orthodox spirituality, The Philokalia. He is a monk of the monastery of St. John of Patmos, a metropolitan bishop within the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
The question of what it means to be human has been described by Metropolitan Kallistos as the most significant and pressing issue facing Orthodox theology today. This lecture, sponsored by the Marquette Department of Theology, is free and open to the public.
